When President Barack Obama addressed the nation Friday in regards to the Sony hacking scandal, he flubbed James Franco’s name.
He accidentally called “The Interview” star James Flacco, merging the actor’s first name with the Baltimore Ravens quarterback’s last name.
“I think it says something interesting about North Korea that they decided to have the state mount an all-out assault on a movie studio because of a satirical movie starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco,” Obama said. “I love Seth and I love James, but the notion that that was a threat to them, I think gives you some sense of the kind of regime that we’re talking about here.”

The NFL star took note of the slip.
“.@barackobama It’s James Franco, not James Flacco ;),” he Tweeted. “Welcome to the family, brother. @JamesFrancoTV.”

Moments after the President misspoke Franco’s name, a new Twitter account under the name James Flacco was created. James Flacco’s profile credited him as an actor, writer, director and quarterback.
“Thanks for the name drop, Mr. President. It’s an honor,” the Twitter page reads. “I’d be more bummed about Sony yanking my movie, but I’m having the best season of my career. I’m beginning to think I should’ve just recommended Dave Flacco for that North Korea movie. Alright, I’ll admit it: This all happened because Kim Jong Un was ticked I wouldn’t give him my MVP trophy. Also, while I have you, I really want to apologize for Spider Man. It would’ve been a lot better if I got to show off my arm more.”
James Flacco even engaged with the real Joe Flacco.
“Surrrrre it is. RT @TeamFlacco: .@barackobama It’s James Franco, not James Flacco ;),” he responded to the football player.

Now that the Franco/Flacco debate is set straight, will Obama watch Franco’s controversial film?
“I’ve got a long list of movies that I’m going to be watching,” he said. “I never release my full movie list.”
But, he did reveal to People magazine his favorite film of 2014.
“‘Boyhood’ was a great movie. That, I think, was my favorite movie this year,” he raved.
