Poppy Montgomery’s drama “Unforgettable” is being brought back to life next summer on CBS.
CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler revealed on Sunday that the series, which stars Poppy as Detective Carrie Wells, a woman who can remember every moment of her life, will get a Season 2, and its star couldn’t be happier.
“Where was I when I heard? Probably chasing my wild child around,” Poppy told AccessHollywood.com on Sunday night at CBS’ bash following the network’s Television Critics Association summer tour session. “I said to my mom, ‘It’s like someone died and they came back to life.’ It was like ‘Dallas’ where it’s all just a dream. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”
Poppy’s show brought in around 12 million viewers a week, but was canceled earlier this year. Ratings toward the end of the season were still around 10 million.
Asked by a reporter if she had prepared herself for the show to officially be over before Sunday’s news, Poppy said she would have been fine either way.
“I’ve been doing this for so long, I think I’m very philosophic about it at this point,” she explained. “If it doesn’t go, it’s not meant to be, and if it does, then it is and CBS has given us a new lease on life, which is really exciting.”
Poppy said she is looking forward to the opportunities of a summer run.
“The summer schedule — I’m kind of excited to explore it because I’m always looking for something to watch in the summer and there’s never much on,” she said. “So for me I’m like, this could actually be groundbreaking.
“This show has such a built-in fan base that I think we’ve got a good shot,” she added.
Poppy sported blond locks when she starred on “Without A Trace,” and at the CBS party she had a mixture of blond and Carrie Wells’ red.
“I don’t know what this is, though, it’s a combination of all three — it’s blond, it’s dark, it’s red, and that way I don’t have… Well I can do blond ends and red roots,” she laughed.
Production on Season 2 of “Unforgettable” is expected to start in January.
Asked what she’s going to do in the meantime, Poppy quipped, “Party!”
“No, she added. “I have a 4-year-old.”
