Police: Paula Abdul ‘Fan’ Likely Died From Overdose

Paula Goodspeed, the former “American Idol” contestant who was found dead near Paula Abdul’s home earlier this week, may have died from an “overdose,” authorities have confirmed to Access Hollywood.

“It appears it’s an overdose,” LAPD Capt. James Miller told Access, adding that the coroner’s office is still conducting their investigation.

And although the coroner’s office told Access they are indeed investigating Goodspeed’s death as a suicide, they wouldn’t know for sure until the autopsy, scheduled for Friday, was complete.

Miller also told Access Goodspeed had caused a “disturbance” on more than one occasion at the home of the “American Idol” judge in the past.

“Our station has been called to respond to Paula Abdul’s house on multiple occasions over the last several years concerning Ms. Goodspeed,” Miller told Access. “The last time our officers had contact with Goodspeed was in July.”

And while police had several run-ins with Goodspeed at Abdul’s home, there was no record of any restraining order ever being taken out against Goodspeed.

“I can’t say whether Ms. Abdul was directly harassed,” Miller added.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Goodspeed had once tried out for “American Idol” in the show’s fifth season.

During her “Idol” audition in February 2006, dressed in pink, and with a mouth full of braces, she claimed, “You have to have a certain personality to pull my look off.”

“I really like Paula Abdul a lot,” Goodspeed said on the show. “She’s really cool. I’m like, a really big fan. And I made life-sized drawings of Paula. I’ve been drawing ever since I was a little kid and my first drawing was of Paula Abdul.”

Her parents, who reported her missing on Tuesday, had previously told LAPD their daughter was a “big fan” of Abdul.

Goodspeed was found dead in her car, parked near Abdul’s home, on Tuesday night.
