Pete Davidson kept a low profile on “Saturday Night Live,” hours after posting an alarming message on Instagram.
The 25-year-old comedian didn’t participate in any live sketches during the Matt Damon-hosted episode on Saturday, Dec. 15, but he briefly appeared in two segments. In a pre-recorded skit, he played “Mr. Robot” actor Rami Malek auditioning for the hosting role at the Oscars, and he later introduced musical guests Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson’s second live performance of “(Happy Xmas) War Is Over.”

Earlier in the day, Pete raised concern among friends and fans after sharing a disturbing and cryptic post on Instagram shortly before deleting his entire account. “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” he wrote. “I’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. all i’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.”
The New York Police Department later confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the “SNL” cast member was “safe” after making contact and performing a “welfare check.”

The troubling note came after Pete, who has been open about his struggles with mental health, praised Kanye West for speaking out on the issue following the rapper’s Twitter exchange with Ariana Grande over her cheeky tweet.
“Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health,” Pete wrote. “I can’t explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this. We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I’m seriously disgusted.”
Afterward, the pop star, who was briefly engaged to Pete earlier this year, tweeted an apology that has since been deleted. “Man i’m so sorry i told a dumb joke,” she wrote. “I really didn’t mean any harm. all i want everyone to be healthy and happy. so desperately. please. my god.”
