Nicole Kidman Gets Candid On ‘Roller Coaster Ride With Fertility’ & Possibility Of More Children

Nicole Kidman is opening up about her struggle to conceive and her and husband Keith Urban’s decision to use a surrogate for their most recent addition to the family, baby Faith Margaret.

“Anyone that’s been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility,” the 43-year-old actress told Australia’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday. “Fertility is such a big thing, and it’s not something I’ve ever run away from talking about.”

Before they welcomed their new daughter, via a gestational carrier in December, Nicole said they “had a roller coaster ride with fertility.”

“We were in a place of desperately wanting another child,” the actress, who gave birth to the couple’s first child, Sunday Rose in 2008, explained. “This opportunity arose for us, and I couldn’t get pregnant.”

The actress also spoke about the power her family has on her.

“Children are children – you’ll die for your children,” the Oscar winner said. “And when you feel that as parent – that’s the unconditional love.”

She also expressed her gratitude for their surrogate, whose identity remains undisclosed.

“She was the most wonderful woman to do this for us,” the “Rabbit Hole” actress said. “I get emotional talking about it because I’m so grateful to [our surrogate]”

Nicole, who also has two adopted children with Tom Cruise – Isabella, 18, and Connor, 15 – is open to the possibility of more children, but noted that she’s also very content with the family she has.

“I never say never!” she said in the interview. “If you ask Keith, he’d be like, ‘No,’ but my sister’s got five kids. [Keith]‘s like, ‘You’re not going to be like your sister, are you?’ I’m at an age now where it’s very hard to have a child when you’re 43. We love what we have.”
