It’s a girl for Ne-yo!
The 31-year-old R&B singer-songwriter is a first time father. Ne-Yo’s girlfriend, actress Monyetta Shaw, reportedly went into early labor on Friday night and delivered a baby girl.
Though she wasn’t due until January, Monyetta reportedly gave birth prematurely at an Atlanta, Georgia, hospital, according to People.
Georgia radio stations report that the “Sexy Love” singer almost missed the early birth — he was at a charity event when he received word of the impending arrival, but was reportedly able to make it to the hospital in time to witness the joyous occasion.
Ne-Yo took to his Twitter page to confirm the happy news and thank fans for their support.
“Much luv to my twit fam and everybody showin’ luv to my new addition!!” the proud new papa Tweeted on Saturday. “She’s healthy and happy. Feels like I’m in luv for the first time.”
“Welcoming that lil’ girl to the world last night defined for me what ‘willing to kill and die for’ truly means. My world, my life, all hers,” he later added.
