Meryl Davis and Charlie White celebrated a huge career achievement on Monday night, becoming the first American pair to win gold in ice dancing at the Winter Olympics. But, while they make a beautiful couple on the ice, were they ever interested in each other out of the rink?
Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush found out in Sochi.
“Can I ask you a question that gets right to the mustard?” Billy began. “To dance like that for 17 years — have you ever tried romance?”

“It was never like that for us,” Charlie said. “We started when we were young and I think that our ability to show that kind of relationship on the ice is part of what’s gotten us so far. But it’s also part of acting and you have to work hard at that.”
And the pair confirmed they never once tried to date.

“No,” Meryl said, setting the record straight. “We just kind of developed a really natural rhythm early on that worked for us… and we’ve kind of stuck with that since the beginning.”
But while they may not have dated, Charlie’s friends certainly noticed his skating partner.
“All my friends were very supportive,” Charlie said, when Billy asked him about the reaction from his peers when he got on the ice as a youngster. “As cute as she is they were probably jealous!”
These days, Charlie is taken (he’s dating former ice dancer Tanith Belbin), but he was willing to admit his celebrity crush to Billy Bush.
