Matthew Cowles, an actor best known for his role as Billy Clyde Tuggle on “All My Children,” has died. He was 69.
Cowles, who was married to “The Good Wife” star Christine Baranski, passed away on Thursday, according to his manager, Tsu Tsu Stanton, who announced the sad news on Twitter.
“Matthew Cowles passed away on 5/22.I had the pleasure of being his manager,” she Tweeted on Friday. “He was a very gifted and kind man who loved life and everyone.”

Former “All My Children” writer Jean Passanante also took to Twitter to express her sadness over the loss.
“So sad to hear about the death of Matthew Cowles, #AMC’s one and only Billy Clyde Tuggle,” she Tweeted on Sunday. “A sweet man and a uniquely talented actor.”

Cowles also had roles in “Nurse Betty,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Shutter Island.”
He and Baranski had been married for 30 years. They have two daughters together – Isabel and Lily.
