Maren Morris says watching “A Star Is Born” for the first time felt like déjà vu.
Much like Lady Gaga’s character Aly, the 29-year-old “My Church” singer got her start as a songwriter and then married another singer-songwriter.
When she and her husband Ryan Hurd sat down to watch the movie, they had no idea how much of an impact it would have on them.
“I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had to go to therapy,” Maren told Women’s Health for the cover of the June issue. “Not the substance abuse part, but there were things that happened to [Lady Gaga’s] character that happened to me.”

“That movie rocked us both,” she continued. “We were like ‘We can never end up like this. Cool?'”
The “GIRL” hitmaker also admitted that she wrestles with her anxiety every time she takes the stage.
“It’s stage fright,” she told the magazine. “Some parts of it never go away. When I go out there and relax into it, I’m fine.”
The Texas native has spent most of her 2019 on her “Girl: World Tour” and will be on the road for most of the year.
“It’s a gift to sing well and make people emotional,” she said. “So, I don’t take it for granted.”
