Former “Facts of Life” star Lisa Whelchel, a recent “Survivor” contestant, is heading back to the world of acting.
The 49-year-old has joined the cast of “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas,” People reported.
“I play the role of Nancy Porter, the country school principal,” she told the mag. “I’m having fun!”
The actress appears to be having a blast being back in front of the camera, almost 25 years after her long-running sitcom ended.
“Tyler Perry is such a brilliant man,” she continued. “He’s a nice guy, and so funny when he gets in his Madea garb.”
Lisa, who placed second on “Survivor: Philippines” last fall – along with winning the $100,000 fan favorite prize – told AccessHollywood.com in September that she does not see more reality TV in her future.
“I don’t think so. I’ve never wanted to do a reality show. I just always wanted to be on ‘Survivor.’ And it didn’t even feel like [a reality show]. I would have done ‘Survivor’ had it not been filmed,” she told Access at the time. “I would love to do another sitcom, but I’m not thinking I want to do another reality show.”
Adding, “I have this future ahead of me where I say, ‘What do I want to be when I grow up?’ I still want to be what I wanted to be when I was 7 years old, which is an actress.”
