Lena Dunham Praises Orange Is The New Black; Danielle Brooks Thrilled To Be On Girls

Lena Dunham is a fan of the latest TV craze, binge-watching, which she utilized to watch the hit Netflix original series, “Orange is the New Black.”

“I recently watched all of ‘Orange is the New Black,’ which I adore,” the “Girls” creator/star told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman on the red carpet at the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday.

“It’s a very sexy, cool, smart show that’s great for women,” she added.

And for a little “OITNB”/”Girls” crossover, Lena cast Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee on “Orange,” in an episode of “Girls” Season 3 – a role Danielle said she didn’t think she would land.

“I auditioned and [Lena] liked my work,” Danielle, who was also in attendance at Sunday’s ceremony, told Laura, when asked how her collaboration with Lena came about. “I was the first one of the day and I was really nervous because she sees so many people, but it worked out.”

As for what character she’ll play on “Girls,” Danielle was sworn to secrecy.

“I can’t tell you any of that, but it was a real treat to work with Lena Dunham,” she said.

“Girls” Season 3 is set to premiere in January 2014.
