Lady Gaga Talks Billboard Honor & Waking Up To Golden Globe Nomination

It’s been a big week for Lady Gaga,
who went from getting a Golden Globe nomination to picking up her Billboard Woman of the Year award.

“It means everything,” Gaga told Access Hollywood
on the red carpet on Friday, before Billboard’s Women in Music event in New York
City, of the honor.

“It’s just wonderful recognition for a year that I
did things my way and followed my heart with my choices, what I wanted to do,
and that was that I just wanted to stay true to my talents and really focus on
my voice and singing and just take my time making my next record, and I didn’t
think the year would turn out like this certainly, so this is wonderful.”

In addition to her Billboard honor, Lady Gaga was enjoying
the glow of her Globes nomination for Best Performance By An Actress In A
Limited Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television for her role in
“American Horror Story: Hotel.”

“I was asleep and I had my cell phone under my pillow
and it started to vibrate so I woke up and I just had 10 text messages that
said you got a Golden Globe nomination — Best Actress,” Gaga recounted.
“I was so just kind of in a dream. I thought I wasn’t awake yet. It’s a childhood dream of mine. I studied acting for a really long time growing
up, but I never made it as an actress, I made it as a singer, so, I know it’s
my first job in television, but it’s not my first job in show business, so I’m
just grateful that all my hard work is paying off and I get to now branch into
a medium I’m also passionate about.”
