Olivia Pope had her Pope Francis moment!
On Thursday during a Purple Purse event, Kerry Washington was able to catch a glimpse of Pope Francis during his visit to New York City.
“Oh my God, that is so cool!” Kerry exclaimed as the Pope rode by. “It was a once in a lifetime experience maybe. Maybe he blessed our Purple Purse event. I hope we bring some of that good Pope Francis vibe in here.”

As for the head of the Catholic Church ever needing the services of her “Scandal” character, the actress told Access she doesn’t think she would be called upon.
“I don’t think Olivia Pope would be invited because there would be no scandal,” she explained.
The actress previously admitted to having a little crush on His Holiness.

“I think my celebrity crush is this Pope,” the actress joked on “Live! with Kelly and Michael” last week. “I always get that question and I never want to say anybody, because then you see him at a party. I figure I won’t see the Pope at a party.”
