It will be a very long engagement for two “Dancing With the Stars” pros.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff, who became engaged in December 2008, won’t tie the knot until June 2010 thanks to work commitments, the couple told People.
“The only thing we’ve decided is next June,” Karina told the mag. “We were going to pick the place, but we never actually had the time.”
“We’re [working] 14 hours a day,” Maksim affirmed. “This is our life right now.”
The couple are set to show off their footwork in the Broadway dance show “Burn The Floor,” which previews this weekend and will find them dancing away until Aug. 16 – just before they start up the next season of “DWTS.”
But after their whirlwind courtship, the two stars are happy to take it slow.
“[Being on Broadway] is amazing and we love doing it, so we don’t feel like we’re missing out on the wedding dress fittings,” Karina said. “We’re not rushing. As long as we’re together, tying the knot is a plus, it’s something extra.”
