“Based on a True Story” Season 2 is almost here!
Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina chatted with Access Hollywood ahead of the hit Peacock show’s anticipated follow-up and teased what fans can expect.
“I think we just upped the stakes here. We got a baby now and Matt, the serial killer, is kind of part of the family,” Messina shared, with Cuoco interjecting, “Which is not good. You don’t want a serial killer part of the family, but if he’s part of the family, you should befriend him and be on their good side.”
The co-stars added that a lot of questions are answered from Season 1 with the show also diving into a whole new “fun” and “surprising” storyline.
“There’s possibly another killer, or is it Matt again? Or is it a copycat? That’s like the big question of the season. It’s fun,” Cuoco dished.
The actress also shared how her own personal life mirrored that of her character, Ava, in season two, as they both are new moms.
“There were definitely parallel moments. You know, having a new baby on our show, and me have a new baby, a lot of the stuff that was happening was happening in my real life. And we wanted to kind of not make fun of it, but, I like that we decided to have her kind of trying to be “Miss Perfect” mom for just a half moment in time, which we all want to be perfect and do the right thing. But, I realized very early on, like a few months in, I’m like, ‘Okay, I got to do this my way and it will never be perfect,’” she divulged, adding, “I loved how Ava kind of finally said the same thing and we kind of, you know, poke fun at that a little bit because we are way too hard on each other out in this world. As far as new moms and mom shaming and what you’re doing wrong, it’s like, mind your own business.”
Plus, the 38-year-old revealed that her daughter, Matilda, with fiancé Tom Pelphrey did come to visit the set where she also bonded with “Uncle Chris,” whom she “loves.”
“She’s adorable. She’s adorable,” Messina gushed, adding, “She just made everybody happy when she was there.”
“Based on a True Story” Season 2 drops all eight episodes on Peacock Nov. 21.
