Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande will soon be seen in Nickelodeon’s “iCarly”/”Victorious” spinoff, “Sam & Cat,” and AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman was first on set with the actresses, who dished on reprising their former TV roles.
“’Sam & Cat’ is a show about two girls who are as opposite as you can possibly imagine, but somehow they come together and become roommates,” Jennette, 20, who plays Sam Puckett on the show, told Laura. “It’s just kind of about their experiences, their adventures and their dynamic. Like ‘Laverne and Shirley,’ but with younger girls.”
Ariana – whose new single with Mac Miller, “The Way,” is topping iTunes charts – said the relationship between her character, Cat Valentine, and Sam is “great.”

“We’re two very, very, very close friends and Sam is a bit of a tough guy, a tomboy. But Cat doesn’t really get it,” the 19-year-old said. “She’s very loving, [with] very open arms… So it’s interesting to see how Sam reacts to that.”
The young starlets – whose “Sam & Cat” characters will begin a babysitting business to support themselves — are both sworn to secrecy regarding details of how their new show’s set will look, but did say they’re both impressed by a stage dressed to look like a restaurant the two characters frequent.
“The sets are really cool,” Ariana said. “Cat lives with her Nona, so we live in our Nona’s apartment.
“That’s all I can really say!” she added with a laugh.
And off-screen, Jennette and Ariana have become nearly as close as their characters.
“We’ve become really good friends,” Ariana said. “It’s great.”
