Jaleel White Talks ‘Sparks’ With ‘Dancing’ Partner Kym Johnson: Dance Is ‘A Very Passionate Thing’

Jaleel White wowed the audience and judges alike during his “Dancing with the Stars” Season 14 debut on Monday (bumping his status to early contender), but the actor says the obvious chemistry between him and “DWTS” partner Kym Johnson is simply professional.

“We have sparks, but our sparks produce dancing,” Jaleel told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “We’re having a good time. This whole dance culture is a very passionate thing – you know, locked in that clench four to five hours a day, staring into their eyes, you get to that point where you can start to communicate without talking.”

“Wow, Jaleel, now we’re talking!” Kit laughed.

While the 35-year-old star had the support of his mom and aunt in the ballroom during Monday night’s big show, Jaleel opted to let daughter Samaya, 2, take in the action from home.

“[Samaya] wasn’t in the audience. Actually, my daughter’s amazing – she can sit through performances like that like a 35-year-old woman,” he said. “She would just be asking for popcorn. I’m serious! At two-and-a-half, she’s amazing.”

Adding, “We let her stay at home… [in the morning] she comes in with my ‘Judy Moody’ DVD — because she likes watching that every morning, literally — and taps me over the head [with it] and was like, ‘Daddy danced! Daddy danced!’”

In addition to “Dancing,” Jaleel is the host of Syfy’s new game show, “Total Blackout,” and will make his second appearance on USA’s “Psych” tonight, prompting Kit to ask the former “Family Matters” star if he’d like to star in a sitcom once again.

“I would, I just don’t know if it would be a sitcom,” he said. “I’ve been doing dramas lately. I like doing good television, television that people want to watch.”

Catch Jaleel on “Psych” tonight at 10/9c on USA and on “Dancing with the Stars” – Mondays at 8/7c and Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
