Reunited, and it feels so good! The “High School Musical” gang is getting back together to celebrate a special milestone.
Original “HSM” stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel will return to East High in honor of the Disney Channel phenomenon’s 10-year anniversary, the network announced on Sunday.
According to a press release, the actors gathered to tape “nostalgic, interstitial segments” remembering their work on the 2006 TV movie, in honor of a commemorative telecast set to air on Wednesday.
Although Zac Efron won’t be seen alongside his fellow Wildcats, the Disney Channel confirmed that the star will appear in a pre-recorded message for fans.
“Seeing the cast of ‘High School Musical’ back together again reaffirms what made it special 10 years ago. It’s their optimism, their dedication and their extraordinary talent as a group that made this such an exceptional movie and cultural phenomenon,” Disney Channel President Gary Marsh said in a statement on Sunday.

“Ten years later, the movie continues to delight audiences around the globe, not just for its memorable song and dance numbers, but for its universal themes that continue to resonate with fans everywhere – express yourself, believe in yourself and always follow your dreams,” he added.
“High School Musical” was Disney Channel’s highest-rated program at the time of its debut, and spawned two sequels in addition to a blockbuster soundtrack album. The movie also won two Emmy awards for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Children’s Program.
The “High School Musical” 10-year reunion special will air Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 8 PM ET/PT on the Disney Channel.
