Richard Griffiths, the actor best known for his role as the Muggle uncle Vernon Dursley in the “Harry Potter” series, has died. He was 65.
The late actor’s agent announced (per People) that he passed away on Thursday following complications after heart surgery.
Daniel Radcliffe, who also starred on the stage in “Equus” with Griffiths, spoke out about the loss of his former co-star.

“Richard was by my side during two of the most important moments of my career. I was proud to know him,” Radcliffe said in a statement to the BBC.
Griffiths met his wife, actress Heather Gibson, in 1973 and they wed in 1980. She survives him.

The English actor won a Tony Award in 2006 for “The History Boys.”
