Glee: Lea Michele Talks Rachel Berry’s Style Transformation & The ‘Honor’ Of Working With Kate Hudson

As “Glee” enters its fourth season, Rachel Berry (played by Lea Michele) will find herself facing off against a new rival – catty NYADA dance teacher Cassandra July, played by Kate Hudson.

While the pair may not mesh on-screen, in reality, Lea was thrilled to get the opportunity to work with Kate.

“It’s an honor, seriously. It’s such an honor,” Lea told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman at the “Glee” Season 4 premiere party in Los Angeles on Wednesday, of working with the “Something Borrowed” star.

“Oh my god, I am the biggest ‘Almost Famous’ fan,” she added, referencing Kate’s iconic turn in the 2000 Cameron Crowe movie. “I just think she’s unbelievable, so I was so excited to get to work with her.”

Rachel has relocated to New York City as “Glee’s” fourth season opens, and Lea said her character’s bookworm style will soon start to evolve to reflect life in the Big Apple.

“There’s going to be a little makeover happening. I mean, we do have the world’s biggest style icon, Sarah Jessica Parker, coming onto the show!” she said (SJP will guest star this season as Kurt’s boss at Vogue.com).

As for her future projects, Lea – who got her start on Broadway – commented on buzz circulating around a possible film adaptation of “Spring Awakening,” a show Lea starred in for two years on The Great White Way.

“Obviously [I’d be interested in the part],” she said, when asked if she’d consider reprising her role as Wendla in a screen version. “I mean, you know, I played that character from the show’s beginnings and all of that. I just keep my fingers crossed that it [will] happen.”

“Glee” Season 4 premieres tonight at 9/8c on FOX.
