Warren Christie as Will in ‘Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce’ (Bravo)
After brushing him aside earlier this season because she wasn’t ready to get serious, Abby and Will finally rekindled their romance on Bravo’s “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce.”
Fans of the cable drama have been hoping for more between Lisa Edelstein’s Abby and Warren Christie’s Will since he made his debut in the pilot (and especially since she let him go), and viewers finally got their wish in last week’s episode. But, things ended less than perfectly when, after cooking her breakfast following their steamy date and evening after, he handed her his manuscript, and asked her to read it.
We couldn’t wait until Tuesday at 10 PM on Bravo to find out what’s next, so we at AccessHollywood.com turned to Warren for his take on Will and his intentions. We also had to revisit some of Will’s other big moments from earlier this season, including Will changing up his grocery store shopping habits to run in to Abby.

AccessHollywood.com: Did you know when you signed up for this that you were going to get to come back so often, or did they leave that mystery out there for you?
Warren Christie: It was a little bit of a mystery. I was told that they had hoped that Will would pop in and out. I wasn’t sure in what capacity exactly how it was going to unfold… but I knew there was an idea that we we’re hoping to see him again.
Access: When we first met Will, he was smitten with Abby very, very quickly. Why do you think he was so fascinated by her other than the fact that she’s a stunning woman?
Warren: Well that’s just it… right off the bat, I mean, Lisa’s gorgeous and she’s got this laugh and this light about her and this way, but truthfully, I think [Abby is] just not like someone he normally meets and he was immediately taken aback by that and just completely fascinated by her and the more he gets to know her, the more he wants to know. I mean, she’s an incredible woman. It’s just much different I think, than some of the women he’s crossed paths with. We also saw—

Access: The drink-throwing ex-girlfriend!
Warren: Yeah! So I mean, if that’s the barometer for people that he’s meeting… I just think everything about the character Abby and how Lisa plays her, and all those different things, he was just completely blown away by her.
Access: I want to go back to the supermarket incident. I’m wondering if you think Will – [with the whole switching to Abby’s supermarket in the hopes of running into her]… is that a little stalker-y that he did that?
Warren: It’s a fine line (laughs). I think you have to be careful. But… he was just very straightforward with just saying, how else was he ever supposed to give himself even the slightest opportunity [to run into her again]? I don’t think he was hopefully hanging out there in the dairy section every day, 12 hours a day, but I think that if he was gonna make a run to the grocery store, why not that one, and hope that there’s that chance meeting. And it worked out. But I think you have to be a little careful. It’s got a very fine line.
Access: In the last episode, and I feel like I’m noticing a pattern — whenever Will and Abby are together, there’s always a big fight between Abby and someone she’s close to. Do you think Will’s starting to have any reservations or observations about her?
Warren: I think he’s okay with it. I think, again, it’s a new situation to him and he understands what’s going on in her life. I don’t think he sees it as any kind of warning sign and this and that. I think he has a clear idea of who he believes she is and is starting to find out. I just think the situation is also something very new to him. She’s in the middle of a divorce and she has kids and this other type of drama, so I don’t think he’s thrown off by it, or I don’t think it’s scaring him away in any way.
Access: Will gave Abby his manuscript and then asked her to give it to her editor if she liked it. What did you think of that just from a personal perspective when you read that?
Warren: Well, I mean, you flip to that page and you’re just kind of like, ‘Oh, no! Oh my gosh, what’s happening here?’ But, you know, reading it and then the way we went through it, I understand the alarm bells must have gone off with anyone I think, in that situation, but I don’t know. … I hope that we played it in a way to understand it’s not necessarily one cut and dry thing, do you know what I mean? That it’s not, ‘Oh my gosh! This is his angle? This is what he’s been doing?’ I hope it’s understood that maybe it’s just, he didn’t think of it as being that big of a deal, or maybe he’s… a little more secure in what’s going on between the two of them to understand it or maybe she’s going through different things and he just couldn’t realize that. So I’m hoping that people see it as it’s not just a cut and dry thing and maybe there’s still hope that it’s not as bad as it might have looked (laughs).

Access: Where do they go from here? It seems like the chemistry is back on. She’s in a much better place than she was before. Where do they kind of go from this point? I hear there’s a dinner?
Warren: Well, there is a dinner on the way, but I think the first thing that they’re gonna have to do is they’re obviously going to have to address what we just talked about – the book thing. We have to figure out where everybody’s intentions lie and so once that gets hashed out and understood, [we have to see] whether or not they’re gonna continue to try and see each other even though every time they do there’s ridiculous drama going on around them (laughs).
Access: You and Lisa have had some really steamy scenes. Do either of you do things to make those more comfortable between takes? I know you guys as actors get asked about this often.
Warren: I think every actor will tell you the same thing: There’s nothing overly sexy about a sex scene, but you can still make it fun and you can laugh. Lisa and I had a lot of fun working together. We had actually worked together a few months before the pilot. We did an episode of ‘Castle’ together, so we knew each other. That little bit of familiarity, mixed with the fact that we got to do a little quick rehearsal before we shot, and we just get along really well, so that helps. And you have to have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs and there’s got to be respect, and a big factor that people sometimes forget is you have to have a very respectful crew as well. You’ve got a lot of people standing around you and this is one of the best crews I’ve ever been around. They were respectful, they had fun themselves, there were a lot of jokes made, so once you take that kind of awkward heaviness out of the situation, you can have fun, you can laugh about [it] and you do these things and make it so it’s not the most painfully awkward thing ever.
“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” airs Tuesdays at 10 PM ET/PT on Bravo.
