“Deadpool” just gained some more muscle.
MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano has signed on to join the Ryan Reynolds-led film based on the Marvel mercenary, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gina will play Angel Dust in the Fox movie, a character who (in the Marvel comics) was part of underground mutant group The Morlocks, the trade paper reported.
Also joining the film is “Silicon Valley” funny man T.J. Miller, who will bring some “comedic relief” to the movie in an undisclosed role, according to THR.
Gina has an off-screen connection to the comic book movie world (albeit the DC universe) – she dated current Superman Henry Cavill on and off for two years.
Ryan’s Deadpool was first introduced on the big screen in 2009, at the end of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
“Deadpool” is slated to begin shooting in March, with a February 12, 2016 theatrical release date.
