‘Georgia Rule’ Director Garry Marshall Offers Support For Lindsay Lohan: She Has ‘A Great Heart’

Lindsay Lohan is receiving some support from her former director, Garry Marshall.

Garry, who directed Lindsay alongside Felicity Huffman and screen legend Jane Fonda for 2007’s “Georgia Rule,” opened up to Access Hollywood about working with the young actress and said he and Lindsay “got along fine.”

“[Lindsay and I] had a good time — I feel bad that she’s going through all this and I hope she gets it together,” Garry told Access Hollywood on Friday at Operation Smile’s 9th Annual Smile Gala in Los Angeles. “She’s gotta go through the process… She said she thought she was good, she slipped, she’s back and forth, but you know, she’s ot a great heart, and as soon as she gets situated where she can change, this is what we need.”

While he’s not certain what course of action would be best for the troubled starlet in light of her recent missteps, Garry asserts that Lindsay is a very capable actress.

“I am not a psychiatrist, I’m a film director — which is part psychiatrist, mind you!” he laughed. “I got to know her — she’s young and going through the Hollywood process of being in front of everybody and all the media, and that affects you.

“I hope she can come out of it, because she’s really, really talented,” he added. “[She’s] really a good actress. So I hope she doesn’t waste this gift that she was given.”
