Filmmakers Honor Mandela Legacy With ‘Power Of Words’

The world lost Nelson Mandela on December 5, 2013, and now his legacy continues with the “Power of Words.”

“Power of Words” is an initiative between the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Tribeca Film Institute, showcasing five extraordinary short films celebrating the words and philosophy of the South African leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner.

International filmmakers, including James Marsh & Eva Weber, Mira Nair, Nabil Elderkin, Ramin Bahrani and Hank Willis Thomas, contributed to the project.

The films explore such themes as overcoming poverty by teaching success to children through gameplay, finding a purpose in the twilight of life by helping others, and embracing the freedom to speak the truth.
