
The “Star Wars” universe is expanding!
Disney/Lucasfilm announced new details on Thursday about the first stand-alone film, “Rogue One.”
“The Theory of Everything” star Felicity Jones has been cast in the movie, which will be directed by “Godzilla”-helmer Gareth Edwards and written by Chris Weitz.

The concept for “Rogue One” was conceived by John Knoll, the Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic.
The film will start shooting this summer in London and is slated for release on December 16, 2016.
In more “Stars Wars” news, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that Rian Johnson will write and direct “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” which is due in theaters May 26, 2017.
