Emma Roberts has successfully earned a name for herself despite her Hollywood royal bloodline, but the actress admits the career of her superstar aunt, Julia Roberts, initially sparked her desire to follow in the family footsteps when she brought a young Emma to work on film sets with her.
“I was always running around to the makeup trailer and the wardrobe trailer, trying on clothes, and letting people do my hair,” Emma told ELLE mag in an interview for their April issue, of her first (uncredited) role as an extra in 2001’s “America’s Sweethearts.” “I loved it.”
Emma, the 20-year-old daughter of actor Eric Roberts, said she finds herself inspired by other stars with famous parents who have achieved lasting success.
“Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson have made names for themselves regardless of the fact that their parents were famous,” she told the mag. “I’d like to have a career like that too.”
The ingénue recently took a step towards the versatile career she desires by venturing into the world of horror films with a role in “Scream 4,” which will hit theaters on April 15.
“There were times when we were filming in a weird house at 2 AM and I’d get really spooked out,” she old the mag, of filming the thriller alongside franchise-veterans Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell. “But what I’ve always loved about the ‘Scream’ films is that they’ll have you terrified one moment and laughing the next.”
