Dwayne
“The Rock” Johnson was ready to spring into action at the Oscars.
The actor
took to Instagram on Tuesday to share his hilarious firsthand account of the
now-infamous Best Picture snafu from Sunday’s Academy Awards, describing what
exactly what went on in his mind during the onstage commotion.
“You can literally see my wheels spinnin’ on whether or not I
should hit the stage and take down an Oscars producer who I thought went rogue
and was trying to sabotage our final moment of the night,” he wrote,
captioning a candid photo of himself among other shocked-looking audience
members including Matt Damon, Michelle Williams, Salma Hayek and Meryl Streep.

Dwayne appeared to be sporting a sideways glance and furrowed brow in the shot, which he explained got taken as “Moonlight” was revealed to be the actual Best Picture winner minutes after “La La Land” had mistakenly been announced instead.
“Seconds before this I saw out of the corner of my eye, the producer saying loudly, ‘NO IT’S MOONLIGHT, the winner is MOONLIGHT!’ as he walked up onto the stage,” Dwayne continued, admitting that longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian realized there had been a major error before he did.

“When he walked on stage, I remember sitting up and saying to @laurenhashianofficial, ‘What the f***s he doing?'” he recalled. “She grabbed my arm and said, ‘Oh my God, they made a mistake.’ The rest was history.”
The 44-year-old went on to commend “La La Land” producer Jordan Horowitz for first revealing the blunder to the crowd, and encouraging the “Moonlight” filmmakers and cast to accept their rightful award.
“In crazy moments like that, we need leaders to step up and take charge,” Dwayne wrote.
The “Baywatch” star teased that Jordan’s initiative may have come just in the nick of time, much to the potential relief of one Hollywood legend.

“Thankfully,
Jordan gave us the clarity we needed, because as much as I love and adore
Meryl, I was willing to rumble over her,” Dwayne joked. “No business
like show business.”
However, he may have
not been the only one looking to take matters into his own hands.
“#MattDamonWasReadyToGoBourne,”
he wrote of his fellow big screen action hero.
