Dolly Parton & Sister Rachel Parton George Reflect On Family Bond & Collaborating On New Cookbook

Dolly Parton has millions of fans across the world, but one of her biggest is her younger sister Rachel Parton George!

“We’ve just always been so close. Dolly has been such a part of my life from Day 1. She was always there for me,” Rachel gushed to Access Hollywood.

“We do have a great bond, and having that 14-year age difference, I feel more like her mother than I do her sister,” Dolly added. “But I feel more than anything, I feel like I’m her friend, because we have a great friendship bond and we like each other a lot – and we like to cook.”

Their shared love of cooking was what inspired their new joint cookbook, “Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals.”

“We thought, what a perfect thing to do – for us to do together,” Dolly said. “We like each other a lot, and we both live close to each other, and we’re just always cooking something.”

The title of the cookbook was inspired by Hank Williams’ 1951 classic “Hey, Good Lookin’,” which is a frequent refrain among the Parton family.

“Anytime we go in the kitchen and anybody’s cooking, we always say, ‘Hey good lookin’! What you got cookin’?'” Dolly shared. “So, it’s a perfect title, and I love the song. If we ever do a cooking show, we’d probably use that as a theme song.”

The cookbook shares recipes and hosting tips organized over the course of a calendar year, an approach Rachel came up with that Dolly loved.

“If you can just open that book, and say, ‘I could cook this whole meal for my in-laws,’ or ‘I could do this for that,’ I thought that was a great idea, and that’s something a little different than you find in most cookbooks,” the country songstress shared.

“Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals” is out now.
