Derek Hough Shares How His & Hayley Erbert’s Holiday Tour Is Their ‘Most Intricate’ Show Yet

Derek Hough pulled out all the stops for his and Hayley Erbert’s upcoming tour, “Derek Hough: Dance for the Holidays”!

“It’s funny – when we first said that we were doing a holiday Christmas show, I thought, ‘Oh, this will be kind of fun and easy, step touches and stuff,'” he exclusively told Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall backstage at rehearsals. “[But] it’s the most intricate, full-out show we’ve ever done – and we’ve done a lot of tours, a lot of shows.”

Derek shared that everything – from the choreography to the costumes, to the props and music – was packed with festive flair.

“I spent months on this music to really make sure that it felt unique and different,” he shared. “Songs that you know and that you love, but reimagined – like a ‘Grinch’ Argentine tango, or a rock ‘n’ roll ‘Jingle Bells.’ Just so many different renditions of the music that you love. It’s going to be amazing, and it’s going to be of course heartfelt, but fun.”

One heartfelt moment fans can likely expect will be an encore of his and Hayley’s dance to “Beautiful Things” on “Dancing with the Stars.” The emotional performance marked Hayley’s first time dancing in the “DWTS” ballroom since her recovery following her medical emergency and skull surgeries last year.

“I think [we’re going to perform it], because it fits the narrative of miracles, you know? That’s what the holidays are all about,” Derek shared. “It’s a moment to share that with the audience, and to have that shared experience in person.”

As he and Hayley prepare to embark on tour again, Derek is grateful to be able to kick off another tour with his wife by his side.

“It’s really just unbelievable. It really is,” he gushed. “To do something that you love with somebody that you love, and to have it really being taken away, and then to have it given back, it just amplifies the whole experience. It amplifies everything. So, when you see us dancing on the floor onstage, there’s a different energy, and we just can’t wait to share it.”

“Derek Hough: Dance for the Holidays” kicks off Nov. 1. Tickets are available now.
