Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas Talk Dating, Performing On ‘Idol’

Longtime friends Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas have revealed they’re dating – news Demi previously broke to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush – and on Wednesday night, the two brought their romance to the “American Idol” stage for a duet.

“This is a dream come true, because Kelly Clarkson is my biggest idol,” Demi told Radio Disney’s Ernie D before performing the Disney Friends for Change single “Make a Wave” on the “Idol” stage. “She is THE ‘American Idol’ of Season 1. I felt like Kelly Clarkson during sound check today.”

The pair admitted they were nervous to perform in front of the massive “Idol” audience, and made sure to plan the performance without stairs to stay accident-free.

“We decided to not work with stairs,” Joe said, with Demi adding, “We are the two clumsiest people!”

Their similarities go deeper than that, with Demi explaining that Joe can read her mind – or at least he tries.

“[He] has this thing where he tries to read my thoughts and predict what comes out of my mouth,” she said.

In a separate interview with “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show, the pair explained how they finally got together.

“We’ve been best friends for the longest time, and now we’re taking the next step and it’s been really fun,” Joe told Ryan. “We’ve always figured that one day it would happen but we didn’t feel like it was the right time.”

As for Demi, she told Ryan it was a matter of listening to her heart.

“Being best friends for a while, over time feelings grow, and for me, as much as I wanted to deny it, the feelings were always there,” she said.
