David Duchovny Talks New Music Album: ‘It’s Like R.E.M., Wilco’

David Duchovny is taking on double duty.

Besides starring in the upcoming NBC show “Aquarius,” he’s also releasing a solo album. How does this actor-turned-musician describe his sound?

“That’s always hard because I sound like I’m bragging because I’m gonna tell you like great sounds,” he told Access Hollywood on Thursday during NBC’s summer press day. “To me, it’s like R.E.M. It’s like Wilco… It’s in my dreams, of course, is these things.”

David also said that he hasn’t been involved in music for very long and is blown away by the opportunity to write and record his album, titled “Hell or Highwater,” which will be available on May 12.

“Music’s been important to me, but I never was a musician until about four or five years ago,” he said. “I’ve been able to write songs. I love the album… I’m still kind of in shock that first of all that it exists and secondly that it’s good.”
