Chris Jericho fulfilled one of his childhood dreams on Wednesday, when he appeared as a guest on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.
However, a bit of cup confusion led to the pro wrestler-turned-“Dancing with the Stars” contestant swapping spit with the legendary late night host!
“The best part of all was [while] I was doing the interview, I kept drinking the water that’s in the cup there, and then after my interview was done, I realized it was Jay’s cup,” Chris told Access Hollywood, at his and pro partner Cheryl Burke’s “Dancing” rehearsal in Los Angeles on Thursday. “The whole time I was drinking [out of] the cup and I was like, ‘Is this your cup?’ He was like, ‘Yeah. No problem — don’t worry about it.’ I said, ‘I’m sorry, dude!’”
“Where was your cup?!?” Cheryl asked.
“It was in front of me on the table, but I was looking at him the whole time and I realized,” Chris replied. “But, well, it’s just water.”
Despite the mug mix-up, Chris said he was thrilled to have the opportunity to see one of his childhood dreams come true.
“It was awesome,” Chris told Access of his “Tonight Show” experience. “I’ve been watching ‘The Tonight Show’ since I was a little kid. Johnny Carson was one of my first heroes… so to be on the show was great.
“I just kept saying, ‘I’m on ‘The Tonight Show!’” he added.
Next week’s “Dancing with the Stars” will be markedly patriotic, as the show’s theme will be “American Night,” but Chris – a native of Canada – said he’ll do whatever it takes for votes.
“Well, I’m actually a dual citizen, so yeah, I’m an American as well,” Chris told Access. “I have an American passport and a Canadian passport, so I’m OK if it’s American week. Or if they want to do Canadian week, I’m there for either one. I’ll ride each side of the fence if I have to!”
