Chris Hemsworth’s kids are to thank for his latest role!
When director Josh Cooley talked to the “Thor” star about portraying Optimus Prime in the animated film, his three children encouraged him to say yes!
“I thought I sold it, but it turns out it was his kids that were like ‘Yeah you have to do this dad’ and so I thank the kids,” Josh told Access Hollywood at the animated film’s New York city premiere.
Turns out Chris’ kids have a big say in his career.
“I run a lot of my creative decisions by them, and this was one that they were pretty adamant about that I had to do,” he told Access. “I had some hesitations just around bringing something new to the franchise following the footsteps of Peter Cullen, whose done such a brilliant job, but they said you’ve got to do it dad, you’ve got to do it.”
When it came time to work with Chris, Josh had nothing but good things to say!

Part of the character arch is explaining the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron’s relationship.
“We’ve always seen them as enemies and we’ve never seen them when they were friends and what caused them to be enemies, so this is exploring that whole relationship,” Josh said.
