Celine Dion Opens Up About Trying For Baby No. 2

Celine Dion is hoping to have another child with her husband, Rene Angelil, the superstar singer told Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell in a new interview.

Celine, who was in Orlando, Fla., taping a Christmas special at Walt Disney World, told Nancy she has been trying to conceive a second child via in-vitro fertilization with Rene.

“We are trying to have a second child and we hope to be blessed again as parents,” she said. “That would be amazing.”

When Nancy asked about reports from November claiming she had been pregnant, Celine explained things weren’t as they first seemed.

“We were [pregnant], it was positive. And yes it was, so for about four or five days later, then with the blood test, they found out that it was going down a little bit and it was not staying,” Celine explained. “So it happens you know, in life in general, people who are not on TV, and newspapers, they go through this all the time and most of the time would not even know that they were pregnant for three or four days, because it was just delayed a little bit. But maybe they were and they would never find out. Because of the treatments I have, I have blood tests a lot and so we found out I was [pregnant] and then it didn’t stay and that is why we are trying again.”

Celine, who will continue to try to get pregnant via in-vitro fertilization, said, “Actually, we are all set. We are going back to the same people, the same doctor in New York and it’s a big process. I’m sure people that go through in-vitro (fertilization) know how much it takes and it demands, but I’m good.

“I feel strong and honestly, we’re very blessed,” Celine continued. “We have a wonderful child, we’re extremely happy. It’s not like, ‘Oh my god, she’s not pregnant and she’s depressed.’ You know how it works. We are great. We hope for the best, we hope to get pregnant. If it happens, it happens.”

Celine said her son, Rene-Charles, 8, would be excited to have a new sibling and that they’ve explained to him how nature works when the pregnancy did not work out.

“When we announced to him that we were pregnant and then it didn’t work out, he said, ‘Wasn’t it supposed to be 100 percent sure,” Celine recounted. “I said it was 100 percent, but it’s nature and it didn’t work out and he was looking at me and he said, ‘Are you going to try again?’ I said, ‘ Yeah, we are going to try again.’ He knows exactly what we are doing, so he’s great.”

Celine also addressed her son’s new shorter haircut, which she said was cut because it was a rule at Rene-Charles’ new school.

“I said that there’s a rule in school that you have to cut your hair short. If you want to go to that school, you have to cut the hair. If you don’t want to cut the hair, we are going to have to change schools,” she said.

Rene-Charles, who had previously been home-schooled, told his mom that he loved his new school and so they cut his hair. But Celine admitted she kept some of her son’s hair after it was cut.

“I have this little ponytail thing that’s all baby hair, it’s all blond at the end. It’s a part of him. It’s great. Of course I keep this in a very special place,” she said.

“Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” airs Christmas Day on ABC. Celine also has a concert film due out in February 2010 with Sony Pictures called, “Celine: Through the Eyes of the World,” which brings to theaters her 2008-2009 Taking Chances World Tour.
