Catherine Zeta-Jones joined the “Red” team for the new sequel, spicing things up as a love interest to Bruce Willis (leaving rival Mary-Louise Parker none too pleased).
While the ladies get along swimmingly off-screen, Catherine said the claws came out during filming – for their characters, at least.
“She really dislikes me,” the actress told Access Hollywood of her and Mary-Louise’s on-screen relationship at the “Red 2” premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday. “She considerably dislikes me!
“But we had so much fun because it was a female rivalry at its best,” she added.
The 43-year-old star said she’s known Bruce for years (they’ve worked together in multiple projects) and believes their friendship brings something special to the film.
“I’ve done three movies with Bruce and I just loved it,” she said. “And when I watched the [movie] the other day for the first time, it just kind of jumps from the screen how much fun we’re having and the audience will have a lot of fun watching it.”
The actress hinted she’s hoping to come back for a third installment, as she enjoyed working with the talented cast.
“I’m not saying what happens to me, but that I’m able to be a part of it,” she said, when asked if she’d be willing to return for a possible “Red 3”. “I couldn’t have dreamt of a [better] ensemble cast. They are so cool and well prepared, so it was just fun.
“Red 2,” which also stars John Malkovich and Helen Mirren, hits theaters on July 19.
