Emma Roberts will be amongst the new blood for “Scream 4,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.
The Weinstein Company announced to Access that the “Hotel For Dogs” star will join returning franchise stars Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell for the new film, which begins production in June.
“I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise,” Emma wrote in a statement to Access. “As a huge fan of the previous films, I jumped at the opportunity to work with the original SCREAM team of Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.”
She’ll play “Jill,” one of the film’s heroines. Last week, The Hollywood Reporter stated that “Twilight Saga” star Ashley Greene had been offered the role.
“Scream 3,” the most recent installment, was released in 2000 and grossed over $89 million. The new film is slated for release in theaters on April 15, 2011.

James McAvoy will step into Patrick Stewart’s iconic shoes as a young Professor X in “X-Men: First Class,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Patrick played the role of the X-Men’s telepathic, wheelchair-bound mentor in the three previous “X-Men” films and had a brief cameo in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
“First Class,” directed by Matthew Vaughn, will follow the mutant superhero team during their early years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will include a look at Professor X’s youthful friendship with Erik Lensherr — later the villainous Magneto — before the two became arch-rivals. Whether or not James will lose his full head of hair to play the bald psychic was not reported.
The film is scheduled for a June 3, 2011, theatrical release.
