Beyonce might be a megastar, but she’s been known to save a few dollars when it comes to cutting her hair and what makeup she uses.
“I like to experiment [with my hair],” she told People, who recently name her 2012 World’s Most Beautiful Woman. “I love playing around with highlights or bleaching the tips. I can cut and style my own hair.”
And she recently put her cutting skills to the test.
“I just parted it in the middle and chh-chh-chh,” she explained.
As for the recent trend of celebrities going public sans makeup, Beyonce wouldn’t mind facing the world fresh-faced.
“Every day in my life is a part of my history, and I’ve worked really hard on my career and my life. So I make sure I wouldn’t be upset if somebody saw me,” she told the mag.
In addition to saving some money cutting and styling her own hair, the 30-year-old new mom also likes to save her old makeup.
“I don’t have to spend that much time on my skin… I’m pretty good at throwing out the expired [makeup], but I hold on to my mascara for a long time,” she told People. “I actually prefer old mascara. It makes your lashes thicker and longer.”
And when it comes to being a role model for daughter Blue Ivy, Beyonce plans on teaching her daughter to not get hung up on her looks.
“I have embraced my flaws and I feel more confident,” she told the mag. “My biggest thing is to teach [Blue] not to focus on the aesthetic. It’s really about who you are, and the human being, that makes you beautiful.”
