Famous fiance, football player, firefighter…triathlete?
Jack-of-all-trades Ryan Sutter, who is best known for winning the heart of Trista Sutter on ‘The Bachelorette,’ is on a quest to become a professional endurance athlete.
Ryan’s journey from challenger to champion is being documented by Inside Endurance, a new series of videos sponsored by Gatorade.
Despite his innate athletic ability, Ryan continues to validate himself as a serious contender in the sport.
“I’ve gained a tremendous amount of respect for the people that I race with so I’m constantly trying to prove that I belong here,” Ryan discussed on Episode 6 of the series.
“All they really know is that I was on television and that my wife chose me out of 25 guys,” he continued. “That doesn’t really give you much of an endurance sport reputation.”
The online series follows Ryan as he discovers exclusive training and nutrition tips – from the world’s top competitors and cutting-edge sports scientists – all the while competing in marathon, triathalon and cycling endurance events across the country.
“There’s always this chip on my shoulder…I am an athlete and I’m not here because someone wants to take pictures of me,” he added.
Trista, Ryan’s wife of eight years and mother to their two children, is supportive of Ryan’s ambitious nature.
“Ryan is such a huge competitor that he has to do well. I’m always trying to be a supporter of whatever he wants to do,” she explained.
Ryan loves having his family by his side and enjoys the “uplifting” feeling they bring to his strenuous sporting events.
“Trista usually comes to all these, but the kids don’t get come to very many. To have them here is very special,” Ryan noted in the new episode.
Trey Garman, vice president of Team Unlimited, was one of many who welcomed Ryan into the athletic-endurance community.
“He’s so far past that reality star stuff in our world. He’s proved himself…he’s one of us. He’s part of the tribe,” Trey said.
