While new “Bachelorette” DeAnna Pappas prepares to walk down the aisle with her newfound love, it’s the end of the line for her “Bachelor” counterpart Matt Grant and fiancée Shayne Lamas.
The couple has ended their short-lived relationship, according to People.
“We tried hard to make it work but we realized that we were both heading in different directions,” Matt and Shayne said in a statement to People. “We truly care about each other and will remain close friends.”
Ever since Matt proposed on the season finale of ABC’s “The Bachelor: London Calling” in May, the couple has been surrounded by reports of a rocky romance.
In June, Matt moved of Shayne’s Los Angeles-area condo, saying he needed “space,” People reported.
But at the time, he insisted the engagement was still on.
“This stuff makes us stronger,” he told People at the time.
On the finale, Matt picked Shayne (the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas) and popped the question with a 2.85-carat platinum and diamond eternity ring.
