Ashton Kutcher Says He Was ‘Afraid’ To Coach High School Football

With Demi Moore away on location shooting a new movie, Ashton Kutcher took to his MySpace Celebrity blog early Tuesday morning to give his fans an update on his new endeavor as a high school football coach.

“Hola amigos long time no chat,” Ashton began his latest MySpace blog post. “I was clicking the keys latenight (sic) and thought I might just wax a little philosophy on the myspot page. The wifey is away shooting a film and I’m holding down the fort here in lala land.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, in September Ashton traded in film scripts for playbooks as an assistant coach for the freshman football team of LA’s Harvard-Westlake School, and the actor-tuned-coach said the new role has changed his life.

“I’m pleased to report that my Harvard Westlake football team is 4-2. I am blessed to step on the gridiron every week with a great group of individuals that understand that the collective force is greater that any individual can ever be,” Ashton wrote on his blog.

The actor went on to reveal his motivation behind the decision to coach in his blog post.

“A lot of people have asked me why I decided to start coaching. I’ve thought about it a lot because at first I would say, ‘it’s just something I’ve always wanted to do,’ but to be honest there are a lot of things I’ve always wanted to do. So as I dig deeper (sic) I’ve actually found that the truth is that it’s something I’ve always been afraid to do.”

Ashton said he wrestled with fear before he began guiding the young football players on the field.

“I was afraid of the time commitment. I was afraid that I would look stupid. I was afraid that the players wouldn’t listen to my football advice, I was afraid that the advice that I gave wouldn’t be very good,” he wrote.

Now that Ashton is helping to lead his team to victory, the actor said he’s learning more from his players than he’s able to teach them.

“And though coaching a football team is no great step for man kind (sic) I finding (sic) that it’s a great step for me and that I’m not there to teach them they are there to teach me,” he wrote.
