Thanks to her roles in “Tomb Raider,” “Wanted” and now “Salt,” Angelina Jolie is now a bona fide action star, but the actress feels entirely different when she’s among her family of eight – partner Brad Pitt, sons Maddox, Pax and Knox Leon, and daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne Marcheline.
“It’s a little funny to me privately,” Angelina told Reuters on Monday night at the Los Angeles world premiere of “Salt,” regarding her action star status. “When I’m home with my kids and I just feel like somebody’s mom. It’s kind of funny.”
On set, however, Angelina indulges herself with roles like Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who is forced to go on the run after being accused of being a double agent for the Russians.
“I love it. I love to jump around and break things and so I think if the actor’s having a good time and the audience feels it, then you have a good time together, you know?” she told CNN.
The actress told fans that while her new thriller is action packed, it’s not a fantasy film like her box office hit “Wanted.”
“It’s based in reality so there’s real depth; there are real scenes with other actors; there’s good character study; there’s a good plot,” she added. “It’s not as far fetched as ‘Wanted’ where you can bend a bullet and say it worked because it’s wild. [‘Salt’] had to work because it could really work. So we had to really try to figure things out and adjust all the stunts accordingly.”
At Monday night’s premiere, Angelina was accompanied not only by Brad, but also her brother, James Haven, and father, Jon Voight, the latter of whom told CNN he was proud of his daughter.
“I’m very excited for her,” he told CNN.
