Amanda Seyfried On Playing Cosette In ‘Les Miserables’: ‘I Don’t Know How I’m Not Going To Cry’

“Les Miserables” has moved audiences on the stage for decades and when it comes to the big screen later this year, it’s bound to continue to impress fans – including the movie’s own stars!

“It’s like a dream. I can’t even believe I’m playing Cosette!” Amanda Seyfried told Access Hollywood recently at the junket for her latest film, “Gone.”

The 26-year-old actress, who is also a trained singer, said she grew up watching the musical.

“This is my all-time favorite musical, hand down. I fell in love with it when I was 11 and first saw it. I know every lyric, I know every song. I was Eponine from 11 to 15 in my head,” she explained. “When I was 15, I got into classical music and I was playing Cosette in recitals.”

The actress said when they get to one of the musical’s most powerful songs, she just might break down.

“When we all sing ‘One More Day,’ I honestly don’t know how I’m not going to cry! It’s so intense. It was like half my life that I dreamed about this and I never had any expectations of it coming true,” she told Access.

Amanda is confident that she can tackle the challenging role and music – and doesn’t care too much about any detractors she might have out there.

“I trained for four months before I got [the role.] It’s classical music, it’s completely a different animal [than pop music]. It’s really hard. You can’t just take any pop star and turn them into a classical singer,” she said. “Luckily, I had that foundation as a teenager. I studied opera. I’m not the greatest singer, but I’m trying!”

The film also stars Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Samantha Barks (Eponine), Russell Crowe (Javert), Eddie Redmayne (Marius), Aaron Tveit (Enjolras), Anne Hathaway (Fantine) and Helena Bonham Carter (Madame Thenardier.)

The big screen version of “Les Miserables” is slated for release in December.
