Amanda Bynes Fails To Show Up For Court; Judge Rules Mother Still Conservator

Amanda Bynes’ mother will continue to serve as conservator over the often-troubled actress, a judge ruled in court late Friday afternoon.

The hearing was intended as an opportunity for Amanda to plead to end her parents’ conservatorship – however, the actress did not show up for the hearing.

Her attorney was present, as were her parents in the Ventura Country, Calif., courthouse on Friday. The next hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2015.

Amanda was reportedly seen dining at Mel’s Diner in Hollywood (but not the same Mel’s Diner where she had dinner late Thursday night) an hour before the hearing.

Also during the hearing, Amanda’s lawyer (who she retained on her own), Artemio M. Santiago, was removed as her lawyer by the judge. Santiago unsuccessfully argued that he’s the only person Amanda has been in touch with and that she repeatedly takes his advice.

David Esquibias – a court-appointed attorney – will remain as Amanday’s lawyer, the judge ruled. An attorney for the star’s parents did say in court that they appreciated the work Santiago had done in helping Amanda.

Following the hearing on Friday, Access Hollywood spoke to Esquibias, who said he had spoken to Amanda earlier in the day and has been in constant communication with the actress.

The attorney said he is in the process of arranging accommodations in Los Angeles for Amanda, and when asked about the actress’ health, he stated, “I assume it’s fine.”

“We are working the situation out with her family and we hope it turns out well for everybody,” Esquibias explained.

As was previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Amanda was released from a psychiatric facility on Thursday after she contested being held involuntarily and she was deemed fit to leave.

Prior to Friday’s hearing, Amanda launched a lengthy Twitter rant, where she accused her father of being a “sexual predator.” Earlier this month, the former actress made similar allegations against her father, allegations he adamantly denied and claims the actress later recanted.

“I am going to court today with my lawyer to prove that I am more than capable of handling my personal life and finances and I am enraged,” Amanda wrote on Twitter on Friday. “I got released from the hospital that Sam Lufti and my parents arranged to send me to because my dad is humiliated by what he’s done.”
