‘Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B’ Trailer Debuts Without Any Of Late Singer’s Music

“Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B,” the Lifetime biopic about the late singer, has debuted without any of the singer’s music in it – and don’t expect to hear any of her music in the movie either.

“She sold millions of records and was a budding silver screen star. Yes, Aaliyah was definitely more than a woman. Get a look at the official#AaliyahMovie premiering Saturday, November 15,” the network said in a Facebook post that accompanied the trailer.

Alexandra Shipp, who took over the role after Zendaya Coleman left the project, stars as the singer who died in August 2001 at the young age of 22.

Zendaya previously said the inability to use Aaliyah’s music in the project caused her to exit the film.

In the new trailer, Iggy Azalea‘s “Goddess” is heard over scenes and dialogue.

“Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” debuts on November 15 on Lifetime.
