Oona Chaplin, the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, has joined the cast of “Game of Thrones” for Season 2, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
Access has learned Oona will play Jeyne.
A last name was not given for the character, but there are a handful of Jeyne’s in the books from writer George R. R. Martin.
Sansa Stark has a best friend named Jeyne. Additionally, another Jeyne, enters the series, as – in the most spoiler-free way possible — a friend of sorts of another of Eddard Stark’s children.
Chaplin herself hinted at her role – although she didn’t name her part – in a recent interview with Britain’s The Telegraph newspaper.
“I’ve got a part in ‘Game of Thrones’ and I did a wee bit on ‘Sherlock’ recently,” she told the paper. “But ideally I’d like to do a massive action film where I have to do stunts and proper fight scenes and horse riding and car chases.”
Born in 1986, Chaplin has appeared in Daniel Craig’s “Quantum of Solace” in 2008 as Perla de las Dunas, a receptionist.
She studied at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Chaplin joins Ben Crompton as Dolorous Edd, Michael McElhatton as Roose Bolton, Hannah Murray as Gilly, Karl Davies as Alton Lannister as well as Roy Dotrice as Hallyne, the pyromancer, German actor Tom Wlaschiha as Jaqen H’ghar, Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy (in the books as Asha), Nonso Anozie as Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Liam Cunningham as Davos, Stephen Dillane as Robert Baratheon’s heir and brother – Stannis, Dutch actress Carice van Houten as the red priestess Melisandre, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne, knight to Renly Baratheon, and “Tudors” actress Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, Renly’s wife.
