Jessica Simpson might have penned a song about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, but don’t expect the same from Carrie Underwood, who also dated the football star.
In a new interview in Esquire, the country star denies speculation that her song, “Cowboy Casanova,” is about Tony, who she dated in 2007.
“No,” she said when asked if Tony inspired the song. “I would never immortalize a guy that did me wrong. I would never give him that much credit.”
The country star and “American Idol” alum said she’s “learned the most throughout my life from age twenty-two till now,” and that “it’s hard to find people who don’t want something from you.”
As for another important man from Carrie’s past – “Idol” judge Simon Cowell, she admits he’s very talented – but that she’s surrounded by many amazing people.
“Simon’s obviously very smart,” Carrie told the mag. “But he’s not the smartest person I know.”
When it comes to politics, she won’t go down the same road many of her music counterparts do in publicly stumping for a candidate, noting her fans and the public are intelligent enough to make their own decisions.
“Americans don’t need Carrie Underwood telling them who to vote for,” she added. “They’re smarter than that.”
