Director Bryan Singer will be spending more time with freaks and mutants.
At Wednesday’s LA premiere of “Avatar,” the director made the announcement that he was returning to the “X-Men” franchise.
“I, just yesterday, signed a deal to do an ‘X-Men: First Class Origins’ picture, which is kind of cool,” Bryan told MySpace. “I’m very excited.”
And the director, who previously helmed “X-Men” and “X2,” said he’s also working on a movie based on a classic fairytale.
“I’m ramping up to do a movie called ‘Jack the Giant Killer’ at Warner Bros,” he said earlier in the interview.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, who FOX confirmed the news to, screenwriter Jamie Moss has been tapped to pen the script, which will focus on the teen years of the characters, featured in the “X-Men” and “Wolverine” movies. New characters will also be reportedly added to the mutant mix.
“First Class” will reportedly be based on the Marvel Comics limited series written by Jeff Parker.
Bryan’s last big screen adventure was 2008’s “Valkyrie,” with Tom Cruise.
