Mackenzie Phillips, the daughter of Mamas and the Papas founder John Phillips, is gearing up to reveal a major family secret on Wednesday’s “Oprah.”
The details of the big secret from the “One Day At A Time” actress, whose new book, “High on Arrival,” comes out the same day, are being kept under wraps. In clips released to the media of the interview, however, the actress said her dad shot her up with heroin.
“He would put the needle in my arm and he would push the plunger in.and he missed… the vein and my whole arm went numb,” Mackenzie recounted to Oprah.
“Was he nervous?” Oprah asked.
“He seemed a little nervous, but at the same time it seemed very common place,” the actress said.
More big revelations are expected on Wednesday’s Oprah, including the details of her seduction by Mick Jagger.
Mackenzie has had a long history with drug use over the years. Most recently, in October 2008, she pleaded guilty to cocaine possession, following an incident during which she was arrested in August 2008 at Los Angeles International Airport. She was found carrying, “what appeared to be heroin and cocaine in baggies and balloons” airport police told Access at the time.
Following the incident, Mackenzie thanked the authorities.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank [police] for stopping me, and probably saving my life,” she said at her October 2008 hearing.
